"Run for Ben"
Hood to Coast Relay

Lewis Hibbs & Steve Scanlon

On Friday, August 26, 2005, Lewis Hibbs, a longtime friend of Ben and his parents, will travel from his home in Baltimore, MD to run the Hood to Coast Relay Race from to top of Mt. Hood to Seaside, OR and the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

"I have been running for exercise most of my life. I am always looking for ways to sustain my training and commitment to running. In 2002 I ran the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in an attempt to raise money for Ben's Dream. This August I will compete in the 196 mile Hood to Coast relay which is run by 12 Team members.

My team is called Building Champions - Champions was formed to coach Mortgage Professionsals. Their offices are located in Lake Oswego, OR. My personal coach Steve Scanlon is also a runner and has raised over $85,000 for Leukemia and Lymphoma. This year Steve was honored as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Man of the Year.

In my quest for purpose I decided to run Hood to Coast to raise money and awareness for Ben's Dream. My life has been so blessed that I feel compelled to give back. No matter the weather, how I feel or how tired I am I must train and be ready for August. I know nothing I could face could come any where close to what the children and their families deal with who face this terrible disease."
